The Electric Canvas is an award winning Australian company recognised internationally as a leader in large scale and architectural projections.

Established in 1997, we have worked on many prestigious projects worldwide presenting architectural decorative, stadium field-of-play, and large-scale projections using digital video projection as well as our legacy ‘PIGI’ filmstrip projection technology.

The company is a complete solution provider with a multi-discipline in-house content department and specialist technical staff. Our reputation for innovative solutions to challenging briefs is well known. We are a project-based company, entirely dedicated to providing focused support for complex projection and multimedia productions.

The Electric Canvas enjoys a long and successful history. In Australia we have had the privilege of producing architectural projections for numerous city and state governments. We have also been invited to participate in several major international arts festivals, delivering original projection works for The Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney Festivals.

Our experience extends to working on numerous cultural festivals and events such as White Night Melbourne, Enlighten Canberra, Vivid Sydney, the Chinese New Year Twilight Parade in Sydney, and the ANZAC Dawn Service at the Australian War Memorial, to name but a few. Our track record with Opening and Closing Ceremonies is considerable and includes most recently the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony, as well as Sydney Olympics and Paralympics, Singapore National Day, East Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, Gulf Football Cup, Rugby World Cup, and South East Asian Games.

The Electric Canvas’ production team brings passion, energy, creativity and invaluable knowhow to every project we work on. The stories we tell, the experiences we create and the memories we help forge through the art of large-scale projection are the result of flawlessly blending technology with artistic vision. We offer our clients concept development, projection design, content production and on site technical delivery.

We pride ourselves on our ability to integrate professionally and seamlessly into the overall production process of an event, be it a festival “light up” in front of hundreds of VIPs or an Olympic Ceremony broadcast live to hundreds of millions of television viewers.

Our team is made up of talented producers, artists, designers, animators, illustrators, musicians, technicians, engineers and production managers, who are passionate about the transformative power of projection.

At the helm of The Electric Canvas is Peter Milne. With more than 35 years of experience as a project manager, technical director, lighting designer and projection designer in the field of entertainment and events, Peter takes a hands on approach to overseeing all of the company’s projects. Driven by his strong theatrical instincts, Peter provides the showmanship that blends the creative and the technical to mould the overall public experience.
