VBNB Lighting specializes in architectural lighting for historic heritage. For more than two decades, we have developed lighting projects for monuments, historic cities, and archaeological sites, using light as a tool to reveal architecture with the utmost respect for its materiality, history, and cultural significance.

Our work includes a significant number of Spain’s most representative monuments, including cathedrals, monasteries, royal palaces, and historic ensembles designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Among them are the Monastery of El Escorial, the Royal Palace of La Granja, the Basilica of San Francisco el Grande, the Monastery of Yuso, and the historic cities of Salamanca and Toledo, in addition to more than one hundred interventions in monumental heritage.

At an international level, since 2010 we have led the “Ancient Egypt Lighting Masterplan,” being responsible for both the design and on-site execution of the lighting of some of the world’s most emblematic archaeological sites of Ancient Egypt, including the Pyramids of Giza, Luxor, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and the Valley of the Kings. This work has been carried out in close collaboration with Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, which has recognized our contribution to the preservation and enhancement of Egypt’s millenary heritage.

Our methodology integrates historical research, architectural interpretation, lighting design, technical direction, and on-site supervision, ensuring that each intervention responds accurately to the architecture and heritage values of the monument. We understand monumental lighting as a cultural and narrative tool capable of conveying identity, memory, and emotion through architecture.

VBNB Lighting’s work has received several international lighting design awards, consolidating the studio as an international reference in monumental and heritage lighting. In 2026, the studio received the highest recognition in the Heritage category at the prestigious “Light Middle East Awards” organized by Messe Frankfurt, winning the “Project of the Year MEA (Heritage)” award. In 2025, VBNB was awarded the “LIT Lighting Design Award” in the Heritage category and received “Second Place” at the darc awards 2025 in the Structures High Budget category.
